"We did what we were trained to do, what we were bred to do, what we were born to do!"

This quotes come form the original 300 movie, but I feel it relates to more than just trying to relate to the mentality of the Spartans of the time.

Another part of my training mentality and why I constantly keep pushing to be better is because of the very intensity I bring to my workouts. When I mean intensity I take every set and rep as if its my last rep of the day.

I train for progress; truly no results, no plan, no diet, or no amount of weight is going to change you if you truly don't bring intensity and dedication to how you lift and want to change.

Ask yourself, how the Spartans, Vikings, Samurai, Huns, Mongols, Celtic Tribes, Romans, etc...... are constantly talked about or emulated as mascots in today's society?

How did these very warriors take over the history books, making today's society obsessed with them?

They brought such immense intensity and devotion to the very life they loved and passions they pursued, thus making them renowned for eternity.

They were bound by blood in the very things they trained for, devoted beyond doubt, and ultimately they all changed the tide of history. None of them were seeking glory they were just trying to live a life to its fullest potential by the best means necessary.

For me personally I'm not going to say I'm a true warrior or even close to being compared to the list above. What I do believe is that the devotion and intensity I employ in my workouts, lifestyle, and passion will one day be comparable to how the warriors above approached their very lives daily.

So what does this have to do with training, change, pursuing your passion?

Simply ask yourself how intense and devoted are you to what you are seeking? One thing I have noticed is, most people will come to someone asking for help but not do a thing the person says to actually make their goal, dream, or passion come true.

You have to be bound by blood in more than just one aspect to make a true change. For example in my training I have had days where I have literally bleed, I have hurt, I have been in so much pain, I didn't want to do anything.

My devotion to the process and progress is what made the difference on those days. Mix that with an intensity of releasing the hounds of war every single time you lift or purse your passion. You are almost at the level of intensity that even Zeus's wrath is considered weak.

This intensity and devotion will start to be seen by the people that truly believe in what you are doing and they know the very fury you are chasing your dreams with.

You are bound in blood with these very people, these are the people that will keep you level headed when you try to rushing the process, help you up when you stumble or fall, keep you going when every fiber in your being tells you to stop.

In a gym you can tell who these people are. They are the ones making the ugly faces as they hit new pr's or pushing their limits, the ones pouring sweat, dropping weights because they have taken everything in the tank and put it into the lift, they make the sounds and grunts.

So ask yourself how bad do you want to purse your life dream, passion, goal?

Are you willing to go into an arena where you are going to bring so much devotion and intensity to what you are pursing that you draw the eyes of everyone in the place?

For me I say let them stare!

In the gym everyone watches the hardest worker in the room, and it doesn't matter if you have the best coach, mentor, program, nutrition, genetics, are the biggest, lift the most, are there texting, or talking to other members.

If you don't bring the intensity its all for nothing!!!!

I bring so much intensity to lifts that I sound like an army on the march, I stalk the hollow lanes of machines just waiting for the pump to recede enough to go back to the starting line. My intensity and devotion brings nothing but the pleasure of pain and ultimate destruction as I image every single muscle fiber splitting open as I lift the weights.

I become a hollow shell of a man that changes everyday and instead transforms into a lion that feels caged and relentless to tear at the weights that have enslaved me. The gym is the curliest of Mistresses taunting my mind with the edge of darkness, doubt, fear, pride, glory, and the ultimate goal of progress.

She is a Master of deceit that I can't get enough of because how I feel, how I get lost, how every beginning in my body vibrates as I smash into the weights and push my physical being to a great unknown. The sensation she provides from both pleasure and pain as the straining and ripping of my muscles provides the ultimate pump only to fade away, leaving me hungry for more.

She has chained me to an addiction that only way I know how to fix is by stepping into the dark dungeons of destruction to release the very monster I have so hard tried to hide from the world around me. She is there taunting my every thought with the desire of lust to transform me into something far greater than I ever thought humanly possible.

She has provided the pain and the pleasure of the scars, cuts, and bruises that have bound me in blood to seek out the pleasure of her company.

For I know that if I don't give it my all, bring the intensity, or devotion she requires another will fill the space. Another will make the change that I deem necessary for me to be happy in life.

Whatever you seek to change in your life; dreams, living conditions, job, anything you deem necessary devote yourself 110% to bring intensity to the fight everyday. Forge a bond in blood and give yourself to the Mistress of your passion and although she may bring you pain, the truth of the matter is she will push you to new heights.

For some of us that is the gym, others finances, others fame, the list is endless. When you make this bond of blood revel in it. Push farther than you imagine, and fall in love with the process. For your forever is waiting for you. Together we are bound in blood to the very thing that makes us come alive everyday, the pulse from which you live, together we can all forge forever.
