Born A Lamb or a Lion, What lies within you?

In anything you do, there is one thing you always have to remember. At first, when you start something new or implement something into your life it’s horribly hard to stick with. However this is the doubled edge sword, if you can mentally push yourself through the hardship you see some of the best results. Those results push you to do more but the longer you push the slower the results show. Now the hard work and dedication remain the same or increases but results you may want to see might take longer to appear.

So in fitness let’s take someone that sets out on a journey to lose weight. Let’s say they stick with it for eight weeks. Within the first four weeks they will have every doubt creep in their mind from its too hard, do I really want to do this, Why did I choose to do this, just to name a few. At the same time if they look at themselves in the mirror they start seeing a small change. Therefore, they stay with it for another four weeks. They start to conquer the doubts that clouded their mind earlier and look into the mirror. At eight weeks, they see one small muscle and then its game on.

That one little muscle was my triceps. It set me on to a path that has taken me farther physically and mentally than I ever thought possible. Here is the key difference, I didn’t think just seeing one muscle, or just losing 10 lbs was enough. Do not get me wrong fitting into clothes did feel better, but let us truly break down how the task was achieved. It was not overnight, it wasn’t by a magic pill, no extravagant plan, and there were simply no quick fixes. My reward came from my pursuit of a desire in what seemed like my darkest hours. That dark hour ended I survived it and then came back to do it again, but this time I came back stronger and the darkness faded faster. The fading spurs your inner beast to stir and purse the desire again. Your inner beast becomes so hungry that being normal or average isn’t enough. You start to crave a lifestyle you never knew you would or could live in. So a mental game starts to be played do you entertain the beast and let it lose or do you re-cage it so you don’t change what you are comfortable with? In the end most of us would pick re-cage the beast; stating I have a good life no need to change it. This very state separates the boys from the men, the beast from the lambs, and the average from the extraordinary.

I personally choose to destroy the cage and instead set up a stage to start killing complacency in my life. Yeah I lost my 10 lbs easy and I got a few muscles from it, look better, feel better, but what was it for instant gratification? Would I be happy going back to what I was before? In simplicity, hell no, I wouldn’t be happy going back so it’s time to forge ahead. Now this is freaking scary you want to start new, you need it, and the beast bares its fangs and strains against the chains of the mental shackles you have bestowed upon it for eternity. Where to start? Make it simple, like a guilty pleasure, say you finished a project take 20-30 minutes and read a few articles about your passion. Find a person that lives the lifestyle and try to emulate them as best as you can in your day-to-day life. Try to figure out how they have harnessed the very beast you have hidden away and now stirs in the reservoir of your mind. Actually, talk to someone about it, follow them on Facebook, comment and say wow you inspire me. Ask them how they did it or if you want checkout who they associate with or what they like.

Now a natural thoughts process would be, well how does this help me? This helps because when you start taking these particular steps you allow that inner beast the freedom to roam. Thus, is grows in strength, knowledge and mileage. Once the growth starts trying to stop it is like trying to stop a river with a cork of a wine bottle. It can’t be stopped at all, men have tried to but a cork in a river, such as the Hoover Dam, but yet the river still flows or finds another path.

This incoherent nature or beast is in every one of us. In reality, we all have it in is at birth and most people shy away from it, shut it down, or store it away because society and other outside influences tell us it’s not appropriate. The only difference between me and anyone struggling with this is that I decided to chase after something I didn’t even know I would need or want. It took me years of being unhappy and wanting to change, to finally setting foot into a gym. Little did I know I would fall in love with the lifestyle. I would love letting the beast destroy my every doubt, body, the fiber of my being, only to take me to a level few will ever get to. The only thing to remember is the only way to get back there is to let that beast out as often as you can. Don’t think this pertains to just fitness, it relates to very fundamental aspects of living, whatever you are pursuing, or whatever you set your dreams too.

Follow whatever you feel your passion is and in the end you will never go wrong. Let the beast out and let it grow till it shows in every being of your body. People should know when you love something, enjoying it so much it almost becomes sickening. They won’t be able to doubt that you are not only living your life but you are living your life like most people wish they could. Let the beast free, let it take you to another level, let it set a standard that only you can obtain. Then take it a step further and let the beast grow, learn, and reset the standard. For me I’m trying to obtain mini hulk status and letting him out in the gym is bringing about not only the body I picture but also the image I have envisioned for my life. The beast is just another small piece of the Iron pulse. It’s the very foundation that we all have to tap into but is always within us.

Untether the beast, forge ahead, and remember the Iron pulse beats within you!
